HAZMAT Field Consultant

About the role

ALS Environmental Risk Services (part of ALS Global) is looking for practical, hands-on tradespeople or construction professionals to take a specialist field role. This is not an office job: you will work on active sites, conducting inspections, sampling and testing for asbestos and other hazardous materials. Industry experience is highly valued, and full training and mentoring is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out on-site inspections and sampling for asbestos (ACM), mould, meth residue, lead paint and other hazardous materials
• Perform air monitoring and clearance inspections following asbestos removal works
• Complete Chain of Custody documentation for laboratory analysis and prepare and handle samples with laboratory teams
• Work alongside Senior Field Consultants and record site findings, assisting with reporting using the Octfolio digital platform
• Support Environmental and OH teams as required and produce client reports with mentoring and peer review
• Travel across Queensland and interstate, including occasional night shifts and weekends

Required profile

• Trade, construction, asbestos removal or building industry experience (highly regarded)
• Desire to move from hands-on work to a technical inspection and consulting role
• Open driver's licence and Construction White Card; QLD Blue Card or willingness to obtain it
• Right to work in Australia
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with clear written and verbal communication

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office 365 and general Windows PC skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
• Willingness to obtain Licensed Asbestos Assessor accreditation (full training provided)
