Hardware Engineer

About the role

Arista Networks is seeking experienced hardware engineers to join its Sydney team. You will work on the end‑to‑end design of high‑speed networking and Ethernet products for enterprise campuses, hyperscale data centres and AI clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Author functional specifications for high‑power, high‑density Ethernet switches.
• Select and qualify components, capture schematics (flat and hierarchical), and collaborate with eCAD teams on PCB layout and footprints.
• Run signal‑integrity and power‑integrity simulations for both power and datapath signals.
• Define PCB stack‑up and fabrication details with vendors, and work with local and overseas contract manufacturers from prototype to production.
• Lead lab bring‑up, debug prototypes, and coordinate complex system debugging across software, hardware and test teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and train contract manufacturers for high‑yield production.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer) or higher.
• 3+ years of hardware engineering experience, preferably with embedded x86/ARM systems.
• Hands‑on experience designing 20+ layer boards with 50G+ signals and advanced PCB technologies (sequential lamination, HDI, ultra‑low‑loss materials).
• Experience with multi‑phase DC/DC converters, high‑speed interfaces (DDR, PCIe) and signal/power integrity concepts.

Required skills

• Schematic capture and functional specification writing.
• PCB layout, stack‑up definition, and collaboration with eCAD tools.
• Signal integrity and power integrity simulation tools (impedance, PDN, differential routing, insertion loss, S‑parameters, TDR, VNA).
• Design for manufacturability (DFM) and mass‑production experience.
• FPGA design and system simulation using Verilog or VHDL.
• Working with contract manufacturers and leading prototypes to production.
