Handyperson

About the role

The Handyperson will ensure the smooth running of hotel operations through maintenance, preventive work and aesthetic upkeep across guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise and carry out maintenance requests and preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.
• Perform general repairs, painting, patching, surface preparation and finishing works to maintain presentation standards.
• Support testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting and related systems as required by local authorities.
• Coordinate with external contractors to ensure work meets company standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Manage workshop inventory, audit tools and equipment, and keep the workshop tidy.
• Maintain external areas, gym equipment and undertake aesthetic touch‑up projects.

Required profile

• 2–5 years’ experience as a Handyperson, preferably in a hospitality environment.
• Physical fitness for demanding manual tasks and ability to work rotating roster including weekends.
• Current National Police Clearance and Working with Vulnerable Persons clearance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high‑quality painting finishes.

Required skills

• Hands‑on painting and decorating (surface preparation, patching, sanding, colour matching).
• Preventive maintenance, minor electrical, plumbing and HVAC knowledge.
• Trade qualification (preferred) and Pool Operator certification (advantage).
• Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite, Opera or similar PMS; BMS experience valued.
• Silicone application in wet areas.
