Handy Person

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Handy Person to join the facilities team at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach. In this role you will ensure the hotel’s guest rooms and public areas remain in top condition through both preventive and reactive maintenance, while supporting a high‑standard guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and reactive maintenance tasks across guestrooms and hotel facilities.
• Manage swimming‑pool operations, including chemistry readings and filter back‑washing.
• Perform electrical duties such as light‑bulb replacement and Vingcard/Elsafe lock programming.
• Complete daily and scheduled room inspection checklists.
• Assist with water‑treatment chemical monitoring and dosage.
• Clean and maintain plant rooms to a high standard.
• Isolate and de‑isolate smoke detectors as required.
• Carry out painting and minor finishing tasks.
• Log and action work orders through the TRITON works‑management system.
• Support the team with additional maintenance duties as directed.

Required profile

• Hands‑on approach with pride in quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently on afternoon and weekend shifts.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and collaborative spirit.
• Comfortable working with chemicals, tools, and mechanical systems.
• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent hands‑on experience (preferred).
• Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
