Group Financial Controller

About the role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will lead financial control, statutory reporting, governance and finance operations across the Melbourne Racing Club Group. This high‑profile leadership position is responsible for building capability, driving accountability and shaping the finance transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, year‑end and statutory reporting for the entire Group.
• Identify practical uses for AI and automation in finance and champion their adoption.
• Oversee group consolidation, external audit coordination and cash‑flow management.
• Partner with executive leaders to redesign management reporting and deliver commercial insights.
• Optimise Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Microsoft Fabric and related third‑party systems.
• Champion data analytics and business intelligence to improve decision‑making.
• Support implementation of budgeting and forecasting platforms.
• Enhance governance, financial controls, compliance and risk management frameworks.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Extensive experience in financial control, statutory reporting and governance within multi‑entity organisations.
• Proven track record of finance transformation, ERP implementations and process improvement.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Leadership experience developing high‑performing finance teams and mentoring staff.
