Group COBOL Application Developer

About the role

The Group COBOL Application Developer will maintain, enhance and document JPL Group's proprietary COBOL‑based merchandise management system. You will work closely with business teams to deliver technical solutions that support retail operations across the company's jewellery brands.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, support and enhance the proprietary COBOL merchandise management system.
• Develop new functionality and refactor existing COBOL programs to improve performance and simplify logic.
• Design and implement system enhancements aligned with business requirements.
• Produce and maintain documentation such as process flows, system architecture diagrams and user guides.
• Ensure data integrity, reliability and security of supported applications.
• Manage integration between the merchandise system and other IT infrastructure.
• Support intranet functionality, including the repairs tracking system.
• Assist with development and support of other in‑house applications as needed.
• Perform daily stock replenishment activities and ad‑hoc administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in application development, preferably with COBOL.
• Proven ability to maintain and enhance legacy systems while adhering to standards.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
