Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Technician

About the role

Swissport is seeking a Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the airport ground support equipment fleet. Working closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers, you will ensure the seamless operation of GSE across the airport environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet.
• Carry out repairs and diagnose issues to maintain optimal functionality of equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and efficiently resolve failures.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks.
• Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Participate in equipment testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs and repair documentation.
• Manage spare parts and supplies inventory to ensure adequate levels for maintenance and repairs.
• Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities.
• Conduct quality inspections on assets returning from maintenance providers.

Required profile

• Thorough understanding of the aviation industry, particularly ground support equipment operation and maintenance (preferred).
• Extensive experience managing heavy vehicles and/or plant & equipment fleets, including lifecycle costing and parts supplier management.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment design and operation.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Heavy Vehicle Qualification (mandatory).

Required skills

• Heavy Vehicle Qualification.
• Experience with Maintenance Management Systems such as Maximo (preferred).
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
