Graphic Designer – Newsroom Editorial Design

About the role

Seven West Media is looking for an experienced Graphic Designer who understands editorial design and thrives on the pace of a newsroom. Working across The West Australian and The Sunday Times, you will turn news, sport, business and major WA stories into compelling pages through layouts, typography, visuals and infographics, working closely with editorial teams to balance creativity with accuracy and tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lay out print products across news, business and sport.
• Bring stories to life through engaging design and infographics.
• Keep mastheads sharp and consistent across print and digital.
• Collaborate with the wider team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Find creative solutions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Represent the brands professionally and creatively.

Required profile

• Experience in a busy news or publishing environment is highly regarded.
• An interest in current affairs, pop culture and/or sport, particularly AFL, is desirable.

Required skills

• High proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of print, typography and layout.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and the ability to quickly learn new software.
