Grant Funded Researcher - Implementation & Qualitative Methods

About the role

The Grant Funded Researcher will join the BetterStart Group within the School of Public Health at Adelaide University. This two‑year fixed‑term role focuses on qualitative and implementation research to evaluate South Australia’s Preschool Plus program and shape early childhood education policy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct qualitative studies with families, service providers and government stakeholders.
• Lead implementation research activities, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with the project leadership team, the Fraser Mustard Centre and external partners.
• Produce evidence‑based recommendations to inform policy, practice and service delivery.
• Disseminate findings through academic publications, reports and presentations.

Required profile

• Relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., PhD or Masters) in public health, education, social science or related field.
• Experience conducting qualitative research and implementation studies.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with government agencies, community organisations and families.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Qualitative research methods (interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis).
• Implementation research frameworks.
