Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

Hatch's Project Delivery Group is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer in Perth, Western Australia. The team covers site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modelling, subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, hydrotechnical analysis, flood forecasting and water resource management. The successful candidate contributes to multidisciplinary projects from early planning to detailed design and on-site investigation, in the Infrastructure, Mining and Energy sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design
• Carry out office-based and field geotechnical engineering activities
• Provide specialist geotechnical advice and advanced analytical services
• Prepare engineering calculations and technical specifications
• Develop and contribute to technical memos and reports
• Support engineering, operating and capital cost estimate development
• Stamp documents and drawings where required (where registration allows)
• Conduct construction supervision and management as project needs arise
• Work closely with site engineering teams and embed safety-in-design and integrity principles in all design documentation

Required profile

• Recognised degree in civil engineering from an accredited university and professional engineering registration
• Over five years of experience in geotechnical design
• Background in soil mechanics, field investigations and design and rehabilitation of water control structures
• Experience in multidisciplinary project environments, with a solid understanding of design codes and technical standards

Required skills

• Civil instrumentation
• Stability and seepage analyses for channel slopes, riverbanks, dams, dikes and natural slopes
• Advanced numerical modelling and analysis
