General Practitioner – Primary & Maternal Health

About the role

The General Practitioner will deliver culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The role emphasizes women’s health, maternal health and routine primary care, ensuring patients receive high‑quality, respectful services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general medical consultations, preventive care and chronic disease management.
• Deliver women’s health services, including antenatal, postnatal and reproductive health care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and improve services tailored to community needs.
• Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to clinical governance standards.
• Participate in health promotion activities and community outreach programs.

Required profile

• Medical degree and current registration as a General Practitioner.
• Experience in primary care, preferably with Indigenous populations.
• Strong communication skills and cultural competence.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care.
