General Medicine Consultant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Medicine Consultant to join a large tertiary‑level teaching hospital in Darwin, Northern Territory. The role involves delivering high‑quality clinical care to adult patients, leading multidisciplinary teams and supporting the development of junior staff and trainees.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert medical care for a broad spectrum of adult patients in an acute‑care setting.
• Manage complex medical cases across multiple specialties, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead, mentor and educate junior medical staff and trainees.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality‑improvement projects and research activities.
• Take part in on‑call and after‑hours duties as required.

Required profile

• FRACP (Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians) or an equivalent specialist qualification.
• Proven experience in general medicine handling a wide range of conditions.
• Strong communication, leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to deliver high‑quality care in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
