General Medicine Consultant – Full Time Permanent

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Medicine Staff Specialist to join a dynamic regional healthcare service. This senior full‑time permanent position involves leading complex patient care initiatives, mentoring junior staff, and driving quality improvement across a diverse clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership, supervision, and education to medical trainees, junior doctors, and students.
• Deliver specialist General Medicine services and participate in the after‑hours consultant on‑call roster.
• Promote evidence‑based practice, clinical governance, and risk management in line with national standards.
• Lead teaching seminars, contribute to clinical research and academic medicine.
• Drive continuous quality improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety and service delivery.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with specialist registration (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the RACP in General Medicine.
• High‑level clinical knowledge to lead patient assessment, admission, management, transfer, and discharge, including emergencies.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and a strong commitment to teaching.
• Track record of contributing to continuous quality, safety, and service enhancement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ongoing professional development.
