General Manager Financial Crime, Risk

About the role

The General Manager Financial Crime, Risk leads ANZ's Financial Crime Risk teams, overseeing the identification, management and reporting of financial crime risks across the bank. Reporting to the Group General Manager Financial Crime & Group MLRO, this senior position ensures robust controls, compliance and customer protection.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assurance to the Head of Financial Crime Portfolio & Group MLRO that financial crime risk is effectively identified and managed within business units.
• Lead teams to deliver advice, review and challenge on AML/CFT, sanctions, anti‑bribery, anti‑corruption and fraud matters.
• Engage business units and stakeholders to implement financial crime obligations, control objectives, testing and remediation.
• Support business units in managing issues, events and potential regulatory interactions.
• Represent ANZ in internal and industry financial crime forums, building strong external relationships.
• Escalate material events to senior risk committees, including Divisional Risk Committees and Board Risk Committee.
• Build and line‑manage the Financial Crime Risk team, fostering capability and resilience.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial crime risk management within a banking or financial services environment.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage high‑performing teams.
• Deep knowledge of AML/CFT, sanctions, anti‑bribery, anti‑corruption and fraud frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on customer outcomes and risk appetite.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
