General Insurance Actuarial Consultant

About the role

EY is hiring Consultants and Senior Consultants for its General Insurance actuarial consulting team in Sydney. You will work alongside a close-knit group of colleagues helping general insurers, health insurers and government agencies solve complex business challenges, from transformation projects and pricing reviews to year-end valuations, audits and due diligence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement actuarial models and methodologies, and critically analyse and interpret data to inform decisions.
• Work on projects spanning business transformation, capital and risk management, pricing, product innovation, liability valuation and appointed actuary work.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory and legislative changes and contribute to business thought leadership.
• Champion continuous improvement and shape future processes, tools and analytical approaches.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the Financial Services practice, including strategy, transactions, tax, technology and risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or a related field.
• Completed or progressing towards a professional actuarial qualification (e.g. FIAA), with 1 to 4 years of professional actuarial experience.
• Experience with valuation, programming and AI/GenAI is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and analytical or programming tools such as SAS, R or Python.
• Communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly to non-specialists.
