Gallery Assistant & Graphic Designer

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Gallery Assistant who is also a skilled Graphic Designer to support the day‑to‑day operations of our contemporary art gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney. The role blends administrative duties with creative design work, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to both the visual presentation and the smooth running of the gallery.

Key responsibilities

• Design print‑ready materials such as catalogues, invitations and magazine advertisements.
• Colour‑correct and edit photographs of artworks, installations and gallery spaces.
• Prepare and schedule social‑media content in collaboration with the gallery’s social media manager.
• Create visual web designs for Mailchimp newsletters and WordPress pages.
• Assist with branding and marketing strategy development.
• Support database and inventory management, artwork sales tracking and client record keeping.
• Perform front‑desk duties by phone, in‑person and email as needed.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated individual with a genuine passion for contemporary and Australian art.
• Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience with visual web design tools, specifically Mailchimp and WordPress.
• Knowledge of contemporary art trends.
