Full-Stack Software Engineer (Builder)

About the role

Stile, part of Curriculum Associates, builds educational software used by millions of students and teachers in Australia and the United States. It is hiring a Builder (aka engineer, maker, member of technical staff) in Melbourne to own problems end-to-end: understanding the need, shaping the solution, building, shipping, observing and evolving. The team is described as a decade-old, 70-person group with about 20 engineers, running like a fast-paced startup.

Key responsibilities

• Own problems end-to-end, from need to shipping and evolution
• Work across the stack, avoiding silos
• Work closely with designers and educators
• Use AI tools to save time
• Build in fast cycles: build, ship, learn, repeat every day

Required profile

• Quick learner, able to start with little experience or 20 years of experience
• Loves problems, ships a lot of impressive work and learns new skills rapidly
• Can articulate a clear vision of what better looks like
• Thrives on autonomy and feedback, comfortable with disagreement
• Strong opinions, loosely held, and cares about long-term results
• Willing to use AI and to own important problems
