Full Stack Developer (Backend Focus) – Melbourne

About the role

Movement Assessment Technologies (MAT) is seeking a hands‑on Full Stack Developer with a strong backend focus to help scale its cloud‑based platform. You will work closely with product, hardware and software teams to build and maintain the services that power mobile apps, web applications and connected devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs for mobile and web applications.
• Contribute to frontend work when required, supporting a full‑stack development approach.
• Optimize performance, scalability and reliability of applications within AWS environments.
• Manage and improve cloud infrastructure across multiple AWS services and regions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and enhance system performance and availability.
• Implement AWS cost‑optimization strategies and best practices.
• Manage AWS email services and related integrations.
• Collaborate with iOS and Android developers to support mobile integrations.
• Participate in architecture discussions and help shape the future platform direction.

Required profile

• Full‑stack development experience with solid backend engineering skills.
• Proven experience building scalable applications and APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure in production.
• Track record of optimizing performance, scalability and reliability of cloud‑hosted applications.
• Experience managing AWS costs and infrastructure efficiency.
• Experience integrating and supporting mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and client‑server architecture.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
