Freelance Senior Graphic Designer

About the role

Hinkler is seeking an experienced, commercially‑minded Freelance Senior Graphic Designer to join its Development Team. You will work on a variety of product categories, turning ideas into shelf‑ready packaging and concepts for toys, crafts, books, games and stationery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop packaging and product concepts across multiple categories, from initial idea to final artwork.
• Use AI tools to rapidly visualise concepts, create and refine imagery, and explore new creative directions.
• Experiment with new AI‑powered workflows and suggest smarter, faster ways to bring ideas to life.
• Play with print finishes, materials, typography, illustration and photography for Australian and international markets.

Required profile

• 8+ years of senior‑level experience in graphic, product or packaging design, preferably in stationery, books, craft, consumer goods or FMCG.
• Strong commercial sense, up‑to‑date with current and emerging design trends.
• Passion for making things and a habit of spotting innovative packaging details in stores.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Solid understanding of print production and packaging specifications.
• Experience using generative AI tools for concept ideation and visual creation.
