Food Services Assistant

About the role

Southern Cross Care is hiring a Food Services Assistant for its residential care facility in South Australia. You will support the delivery of high-quality catering services to residents, working as part of a supportive team. The role is permanent part-time, at 30 hours per fortnight, split between two weeks: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 2.00pm to 7.30pm each day.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and meal service
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards
• Help deliver meals that meet residents' dietary needs and preferences in a welcoming setting

Required profile

• Previous experience in food handling or kitchen roles
• Clear communication skills in English, especially with older people
• Strong time management and ability to work independently
• Basic understanding of how to support residents living with dementia
• Respectful, team-oriented approach
