Flight Nurse – Aeromedical & Critical Care

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is seeking experienced Flight Nurses to join its Alice Springs team. You will provide high‑quality aeromedical, intensive‑care, midwifery and trauma services to patients in remote, rural and regional locations across South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary response, intensive‑care, midwifery and trauma care during emergency retrievals.
• Operate as part of a high‑performance aeromedical team, collaborating with pilots and other health professionals.
• Provide patient care in dynamic, unpredictable environments where each shift varies.
• Maintain clinical standards and documentation in accordance with RFDS protocols.

Required profile

• AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.
• Minimum 1 year of consolidated midwifery practice.
• At least 5 years post‑registration experience, including 3 years in a critical‑care setting.
• Post‑graduate certificate (or higher) in Emergency Medicine or Intensive Care.
• Experience in a recognised major regional/tertiary Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit, or a cumulative mix of both.
