Fleet Operations Manager

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Fleet Operations Manager will lead the strategic and day‑to‑day management of our light commercial and heavy vehicle fleet. This hands‑on leadership position focuses on maximizing fleet availability, safety, compliance and cost efficiency while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily fleet operations to ensure vehicle availability meets operational requirements and service standards.
• Oversee vehicle allocation, commissioning, replacement and disposal for both light commercial and heavy vehicles.
• Coordinate maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs to keep the fleet safe, compliant and operational.
• Ensure compliance with Australian transport legislation, including HVNL and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
• Monitor fleet performance, utilisation, maintenance costs and operational data, providing insights and reporting for decision‑making.
• Maintain accurate fleet systems, records and documentation, supporting digital tools and technology adoption.
• Identify operational risks and opportunities for improvement, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and service providers.
• Lead, coach and develop Fleet Coordinators, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.

Required profile

• Confident, engaging leader comfortable in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet, transport or operational leadership.
• Proven track record managing both light commercial and heavy vehicle fleets with a focus on safety and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Australian transport legislation (HVNL, CoR).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical mindset with experience using fleet data to drive decisions.
