Fintech Regulatory Lawyer

About the role

The position is with a leading Australian law firm specialising in Financial Services & FinTech. The role offers a mix of advisory, transactional and regulatory work with significant client contact and long‑term career prospects.

Key responsibilities

• Advise banks, fintech start‑ups, payment providers and other financial institutions on regulatory and compliance obligations.
• Provide guidance on licensing, consumer credit, anti‑money‑laundering and other financial services laws.
• Assist clients in launching new financial products, digital platforms and technology‑driven services.
• Support regulatory investigations, compliance reviews and interactions with regulators.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to technology, payments and financial services.

Required profile

• 3+ years post‑qualification experience in financial services regulation, fintech, banking & finance or commercial law within a reputable private practice.
• Experience advising on financial services regulatory frameworks and compliance matters.
• Strong technical, drafting and problem‑solving abilities with a commercial mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence managing client relationships.
• Interest in emerging technologies, digital innovation and evolving regulatory landscape.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial services laws, licensing requirements and AML obligations.
• Ability to draft and negotiate commercial agreements in the fintech sector.
