Financial Controller

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will own the full spectrum of financial operations for a fast‑growing events and media business. You will manage cash flow, payroll, accounts payable, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting while partnering with leadership and external accountants to keep the company financially robust and ready for investment.

Key responsibilities

• Daily cash flow management, banking and liquidity across all business entities.
• Rolling cash‑flow forecasts and proactive identification of financial risks.
• Payroll, supplier and contractor payments and compliance with statutory obligations.
• Weekly, monthly and annual management reporting including P&L, balance sheet and KPI dashboards.
• Budgeting, financial modelling and variance analysis.
• Event budget management and oversight of sponsorship revenue.
• Coordination of BAS, EOFY, audits and overall compliance.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualified (or working towards qualification) with at least 5 years in a senior finance role.
• Advanced experience with Xero, Excel and financial modelling.
• Highly proactive with a strong commercial mindset and experience in SMEs.
• Demonstrates full ownership, surfaces issues early and proposes practical solutions.

What we offer

• Part‑time on‑site role (minimum 20 hours per week) based in Burwood, Victoria.
• Pro‑rata salary range $130,000–$165,000 + superannuation, with the possibility of full‑time.
