Financial Controller

About the role

Laundy Hotels, a leading family‑owned hospitality group in Australia, is seeking a commercially astute Financial Controller to join its finance leadership team. You will be responsible for financial control, reporting and performance across a large, fast‑moving multi‑entity pub and hospitality portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial reporting and own the month‑end close process.
• Oversee group consolidations, balance‑sheet integrity, reconciliations and intercompany accounting.
• Partner with venue operators and senior leaders to analyse sales, labour, cost of goods, stock, gaming, cash and profitability.
• Identify margin leakage, control weaknesses and commercial opportunities.
• Maintain statutory compliance, coordinate external audits and manage tax and regulatory lodgements.
• Manage cash‑flow reporting, working capital and key financial risk areas.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, capital‑expenditure analysis and venue investment decisions.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team while driving systems and process improvements across finance, payroll, accounts payable and venue systems.

Required profile

• Senior‑level finance professional with strong commercial judgement.
• Hands‑on experience in a high‑volume hospitality or pub environment.
• Proven ability to improve controls, challenge assumptions and influence operational leaders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MYOB.
• Proficiency with Xero.
• Experience using Wirely or similar venue management systems.
