Financial Controller

About the role

AUSIEX, a leading provider of outsourced trade execution, settlement and clearing solutions in Australia, is seeking a senior‑level Financial Controller to join its finance team in Sydney. You will be responsible for overseeing month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and the preparation of key reporting workpapers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior review and sign‑off for month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations and reporting workpapers.
• Develop and deliver the narrative layer of management reporting, translating financial results into clear commentary.
• Act as the senior technical accounting authority, leading the external audit relationship and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
• Ensure statutory reporting obligations are met accurately and on time while strengthening the control framework.
• Identify and drive process‑efficiency, data‑quality and reporting‑automation opportunities through technology.
• Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Commercial Finance to integrate management reporting and commercial analysis.
• Maintain oversight of project and capitalised costs, providing accurate actual‑vs‑budget reports to Project Managers.
• Support budget owners with timely, relevant reporting.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with strong technical accounting expertise.
• Proven experience leading external audit engagements and managing statutory reporting.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into clear business commentary.
• Track record of improving finance processes, data quality and automation.
• Strong collaboration skills with commercial and project teams.
