Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established financial services business, is seeking a technically strong Financial Controller to join the Group Finance function. The role offers exposure to complex group structures, senior stakeholders, and a blend of statutory, technical, and commercial finance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end statutory and listed reporting, managing group consolidations across multiple entities.
• Own the external audit relationship and prepare detailed accounting papers.
• Drive acquisitions, impairment assessments, and strengthen the group’s control environment.
• Oversee month‑end close, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow/financing activities.
• Lead, develop and mentor finance team members while driving process improvements.
• Build scalable reporting and control frameworks as the business grows.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification.
• 8–12 years of experience in Big 4, ASX‑listed, or financial services environments.
• Background in funds or investment management is highly regarded.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of AASB/IFRS and group consolidations.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing statutory and board‑level reports.
• Demonstrated leadership within a finance team.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Systems‑driven mindset with a genuine interest in process improvement.
