Financial Controller

About the role

Santos is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a portfolio of assets. You will provide financial stewardship, strategic business partnering, and governance over Joint Venture obligations while delivering insightful analysis to support confident business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Maintain accountability for all financial activities across the asset portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, forecasting and month‑end close.
• Provide financial leadership and commercial advice to senior stakeholders on cost management and business performance.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly performance reporting.
• Drive financial analysis, business case reviews and scenario modelling to support investment and operational decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Joint Venture partners and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reporting and financial outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, governance frameworks, internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
• CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 10+ years of experience in finance, accounting or financial control roles, preferably in Oil & Gas, Energy or Resources.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience leading finance teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experience managing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and performance reporting processes.
• Joint Venture accounting and reporting experience.
