Financial Controller

About the role

This senior Finance Controller position reports to the Finance Director in Sydney and partners with APAC finance teams. You will lead the accounting and audit function for ANZ operations within a large multinational matrix organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close processes.
• Manage full financial operations including P&L, balance sheet, payroll, headcount and inter‑company transactions.
• Oversee group consolidation in line with AASB and IFRS standards.
• Ensure compliance with ASIC and ATO regulatory requirements.
• Manage internal and external audits from start to finish.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team.
• Drive process improvements and support system transformation initiatives.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with regional and global stakeholders.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification.
• At least 10 years post‑qualification experience in financial control roles.
• Strong background in ANZ regulatory and reporting environments.
• Experience in multinational or matrix organisations.
• Proven track record managing audits and financial compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and meet tight deadlines.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive, calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
