Financial Controller

About the role

Cooinda Lodge Kakadu is seeking a commercially‑minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function of this unique resort within Kakadu National Park. The role focuses on maximizing profitability, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial insight to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager and hotel leadership to shape financial strategy and support decision‑making.
• Prepare accurate weekly, monthly and annual financial reports for Accor and ownership groups.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and long‑term financial planning.
• Oversee payroll operations, ensuring legislative compliance and accuracy.
• Provide financial guidance on Management Agreements, Owners Corporation matters and HMA compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, controls, policies and reporting processes.
• Support department heads with analysis, reporting and commercial insights to improve profitability.
• Ensure adherence to Accor financial policies, WH&S obligations and all statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• CA or CPA qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar finance role within the hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax, superannuation, long‑service leave and National Employment Standards.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and maintain high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems, especially Sunsystems, PurchasePlus and OperaCloud.
• In‑depth understanding of accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Ability to produce accurate financial reports and analyses.
