Financial Controller – Global Multi-Currency Group

About the role

Freelancer.com, a global technology company listed on the ASX, is seeking a high‑calibre Financial Controller to lead its finance function across multiple subsidiaries and jurisdictions. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance and treasury management for a fast‑growing fintech and marketplace group.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closing and consolidate multi‑currency subsidiaries (Freelancer, Escrow, Loadshift).
• Prepare statutory financial statements under IFRS/AASB and manage ASX regulatory filings.
• Own the global audit process, liaise with external auditors and maintain robust internal controls.
• Oversee global tax compliance, including GST/VAT, corporate income tax and R&D tax incentive claims.
• Drive operational excellence by refining and automating financial systems and workflows.
• Manage global cash flow, intercompany settlements and FX risk in a high‑volume transactional environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CA or CPA qualification.
• 8+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably starting at a Big 4 firm and including senior reporting or controllership in an ASX‑listed or high‑growth tech company.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a global finance team.
• Detail‑oriented, thrives under pressure and committed to process automation.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of IFRS and AASB accounting standards.
• Experience with complex multi‑currency consolidations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and financial automation tools.
• Expertise in global tax compliance (GST/VAT, corporate tax, R&D incentives).
• Cash management and foreign‑exchange risk management.
