Financial Accountant – Perth CBD

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Accountant to join our Perth CBD team. The role is central to maintaining accurate financial reporting, compliance, and providing operational finance support across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage payroll cost allocations and exploration/tenement capitalisation.
• Prepare and post month‑end journals, assist with month‑end close, and complete GL reconciliations.
• Prepare quarterly Appendix 5B cash‑flow reports and assist in half‑year and annual statutory financial statements (AASB/IFRS).
• Calculate annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and prepare/review monthly Business Activity Statements (BAS) including GST, PAYG and salary‑sacrifice GST.
• Perform mining royalty calculations, submit ABS surveys and support other statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage lease accounting under AASB 16, account for asset finance arrangements, and maintain fixed‑asset and lease registers.
• Provide backup for Accounts Payable, monitor Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) items, and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (essential); CPA or ACCA preferred.
• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including month‑end processes, reconciliations and statutory reporting under AASB/IFRS.
• Knowledge of AASB 16 lease accounting and Australian tax compliance (BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT).
• Ability to work across technical accounting and operational finance responsibilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Pronto ERP and ODBC reporting tools is highly regarded.
