Financial Accountant – Melbourne

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our high‑performing national finance team in Melbourne. You will work closely with senior finance leaders, supporting day‑to‑day financial operations and gaining exposure across management accounting, statutory compliance and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end journals, accruals, pre‑payments, fixed‑asset and revenue roll‑overs.
• Compile monthly management accounts and accompanying commentary.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and the fixed‑asset register.
• Support BAS, FBT and other tax compliance processes.
• Assist with year‑end audits, work papers and statutory reporting.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow reporting.
• Mentor junior finance team members and collaborate with Accounts Payable on vendor verification.
• Review employee expense claims for accurate general‑ledger coding.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or currently pursuing).
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or similar professional‑services environment.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
