Financial Accountant

About the role

Working closely with the Finance Manager, this Financial Accountant role covers a broad range of financial accounting duties, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end closing, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and compliance, taxation and support for the business team. The position is based in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Finance Manager in overseeing the finance activities of the ANZ business.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries (payroll, expenses, accruals, prepayments, consolidation eliminations and one-off transactions) and prepare monthly P&L and balance sheet variance analysis.
• Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Manage accounts payable, including oversight of China Shared Services, and accounts receivable, communicating with customers on outstanding balances.
• Assist with annual budgets and monthly forecasts, and provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax returns, tax information to Fluke Corporate Tax, quarterly ABS returns, and GST/BAS and FBT returns; assist with tax audits.
• Lead year-end financial statement audits and support the maintenance of finance processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, SOX and company policies.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
• 5+ years of commercial experience in financial accountant roles with demonstrated progression.
• Strong understanding of Australian taxation and accounting standards.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, taking initiative and solving problems.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with an ERP system; Oracle knowledge is a plus.
