Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will prepare month‑end journals and reconciliations across multiple areas, support quarterly close tasks, and contribute to process improvements within a values‑driven finance team at Torrens University Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliations for cash, intercompany, accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and other line items.
• Assist with supplementary monthly and quarterly close deliverables, disclosure packages and analytics.
• Support internal and external audit requirements and external financial reporting, including financial statements.
• Identify and implement improvements to the close process and work with FP&A to analyse actuals and inform forecasts.

Required profile

• Minimum 3+ years relevant finance experience.
• Current CA or CPA designation.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS (US GAAP exposure is an advantage).
• Experience in a well‑established internal control environment (SOX compliance).

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• PeopleSoft (advantage).
• Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
• Familiarity with US GAAP.
