Financial Accountant – Full‑time

About the role

Waverley College is looking for a dedicated Financial Accountant to join its Finance team on a permanent, full‑time basis. The role supports the school community by ensuring accurate accounting records and delivering high‑quality financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day accounting tasks and manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Current qualification with an accounting professional body.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and GST.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Effective communication skills with both finance and non‑finance audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, macros and Power Queries.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST).
