Finance Officer

About the role

Reason Group is looking for a Finance Officer to manage end‑to‑end finance operations in a fast‑paced consulting and project‑based environment. This mid‑level position is ideal for a professional with 3‑4 years of experience who enjoys working with numbers and can handle multiple priorities with high attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end close, including project work‑in‑progress reconciliations, journals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and monthly management reports.
• Provide financial analysis and maintain reporting dashboards.
• Collaborate on annual budgeting, maintain rolling forecasts and monitor cash flow.
• Oversee full accounts payable and receivable cycles, including invoicing, collections and expense claims.
• Process company receipts using ProSpend, Xero and Employment Hero.
• Run payroll, calculate salaries, leave, superannuation and PAYG, and lodge BAS and payroll tax returns.
• Assist with FBT returns and coordinate year‑end tax filing with external agents.
• Support project accounting by monitoring budgets, analysing variances and validating timesheets.
• Liaise with external accountants, vendors, tax agents and revenue offices.
• Identify and implement process improvements, including AI‑enabled automation.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of finance experience in a consulting or project‑based setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
