Finance Manager

About the role

This role is with a large, private‑equity backed Australian retailer, supporting growth, operational performance and strategic decision‑making through finance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes and produce accurate financial reports.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements and supporting analysis.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations, general‑ledger integrity and financial controls.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting and ongoing performance analysis.
• Provide commentary on results, identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate statutory reporting and manage external auditor relationships.
• Partner with senior finance leaders on cash‑flow, working‑capital and financial planning.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, reporting processes and automation.

Required profile

• 5‑8+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in Big 4, a chartered accounting firm or a complex corporate environment.
• CA or CPA qualification with strong technical accounting foundation.
• Deep knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month‑end reporting, statutory accounts and audit processes.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and financial analysis.
• Commercial mindset with ability to translate finance data into business outcomes.
