Finance Manager

About the role

This Finance Manager role offers the chance to shape financial operations, drive process improvements and provide strategic insight for a growing business in Canberra. You will work closely with senior leaders to influence strategy, support profitable growth and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all financial operations including profit & loss, balance sheet, forecasting, accounts receivable/payable and cash flow.
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and support continuous operational excellence.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, financial analyses and management reports for decision‑making.
• Support new business cases, bids, pricing decisions and commercial initiatives.
• Oversee day‑to‑day ledger activities, bank reconciliations, fixed assets and statutory reporting (BAS, IAS, payroll tax, superannuation).
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate data and timely reporting.
• Maintain robust internal controls, monitor compliance with delegation of authority and company policies.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and other stakeholders for reporting and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification (CA/CPA preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and regulatory compliance.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functions.
• Legal right to work in Australia.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MYOB accounting software.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Microsoft Teams for collaboration.
