Finance Manager - Environmental Services

About the role

McMahon Services, a privately owned Australian company in construction, industrial and environmental services, is looking for a Finance Manager to join its Environmental Services team. The role acts as the financial partner to project teams, working closely with busy project managers to understand project performance, with accurate month-end reporting and early identification of risks and trends.

Key responsibilities

• Review project performance with project managers and help them understand where each project stands financially
• Own the month-end reporting process, ensuring timely reporting, accurate accruals and reliable reports to senior leaders
• Raise emerging risks and trends with senior leaders, with recommendations on cost tracking, revenue recognition and margin
• Coach and support project managers to strengthen their commercial and financial discipline
• Lead the annual budgeting process, identify cost-saving opportunities and direct the Financial Analyst on performance reviews
• Build relationships with Executive General Managers, Group Finance and other stakeholders while improving financial processes and systems

Required profile

• Accounting background with 2-3+ years in a project controls or similar finance role in construction, infrastructure or project-based environments
• Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business or a related field preferred
• Current driver's licence and ability to obtain DCSI and Defence clearance
• Experience supporting project managers' commercial discipline in construction or contracting is a plus

Required skills

• ERP and project platforms such as Pronto, SAP, Oracle, InEight, Aconex, Procore or Power BI (a plus)
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accurate month-end reporting under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to challenge constructively and build trust
