Finance & Compliance Officer

About the role

Arnold Bloch Leibler, a premium Australian commercial law firm with offices in Melbourne and Sydney, is hiring a Finance & Compliance Officer in Melbourne. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will administer the firm's AML system and support several finance functions, working closely with the Finance team and communicating directly with partners, lawyers, staff and clients. In-office attendance is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Complete KYC checks for matters involving designated services, including client onboarding, due diligence and verification.
• Act as the primary administrator and point of contact for the First AML system.
• Liaise with clients, lawyers and partners to obtain information and resolve AML and KYC queries in line with compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant AML legislation and take part in the annual AML training program.
• Provide backup support for trust transactions, reconciliations, reporting and record keeping.
• Assist with the practice management system, month-end processes, financial reporting and analysis, and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in an accounting, finance or administrative role, preferably in professional services.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills and clear communication with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Experience with legal practice management systems, trust accounting or compliance processes is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• Confident use of financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to apply compliance requirements accurately and exercise appropriate discretion.
