Field Service Technician 2/1 (Roaster FIFO)

About the role

Cummins Inc. is hiring a Field Service Technician 2/1 in Kalgoorlie to diagnose and complete less complex repairs to engines at the customer's site. The role is described as a roaster FIFO position.

Key responsibilities

• Engage customers courteously and professionally, anticipating their needs promptly and efficiently.
• Use specialized tools and follow documented procedures to diagnose and complete repairs, including preparing the required parts and tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on engines and related components according to documented schedules and standards.
• Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or the supervisor.
• Complete documentation such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims and quality documents, by hand or through business systems.
• Identify additional service opportunities with the customer and complete required training.
• Maintain the service vehicle and tools, and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental policies, reporting incidents to site management and the supervisor.

Required profile

• Basic level field service work experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
• Customer service experience.
• Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution (preferred); apprentice-trained engine technician preferred.
• Locally valid driving permit.
• The position may require licensing for export control or sanctions compliance.

Required skills

• Diagnostics application: troubleshooting engines and related systems using mechanical and electronic tools, isolating failed components and documenting results.
• Electronic service tool application: selecting and using electronic tools to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Engine systems interaction: interpreting electrical and mechanical systems such as exhaust, cooling, fuel, aftertreatment and controls.
• Product repair and maintenance: repairing and maintaining engines and power generators, replacing parts and performing progressive damage checks.
• Service documentation: recording customer, equipment and technical information in the service management system.
