Field Machine Technician

About the role

Opal Fibre Packaging Australia is seeking a hands‑on Field Machine Technician to service a range of customer sites across the Cairns and Innisfail regions. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and re‑tooling packaging equipment to ensure safety, reliability and optimal production output.

Key responsibilities

• Set and prioritise work orders, ensuring parts availability and efficient labour utilisation.
• Monitor equipment downtime and uptime, driving improvements in system effectiveness.
• Maintain equipment to OEM run speeds and quality standards.
• Coordinate with equipment and technical suppliers for parts and support.
• Plan and execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, meeting customer and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified in fitting, turning or a related heavy‑machinery discipline.
• Current full driver’s licence for extensive regional travel.
• Strong focus on health & safety and customer service.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
