Fibre Technician – Melbourne (rotational projects)

About the role

Stowe Australia is seeking experienced Fibre Technicians to join its Melbourne office and support a variety of telecommunications projects across Melbourne, Adelaide and the Northern Territory. The role involves 3‑week rotational assignments on site, with travel and living expenses covered.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fibre optic splicing and jointing on live and passive networks.
• Assemble connectors and terminate fibres, including polishing and end‑face finishing.
• Test and troubleshoot fibre optic networks to locate and resolve faults.
• Prepare fibre cables, handle cable reels and haul cable over long distances.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality and safety on all sites.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, project teams and clients.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fibre splicing, connector assembly and termination.
• Ability to work away from home on a rostered, 3‑week rotational basis.
• Current White Card / Construction Induction and a valid driver’s licence.
• ACMA Open Cabling Registration or relevant telecommunications qualifications are highly regarded.
• Cert III in Telecommunications or Electrical (or equivalent) is desirable.
• First Aid and relevant site tickets (EWP, Working at Heights) are a plus.
