Farm Hand – Crop Operations

About the role

Reporting to the Farm Operations Manager, you will join a small team dedicated to safe and sustainable farming at Wainui Farm, a 4,600‑ha feedlot and crop operation in Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake varied farming duties across crop cycles.
• Operate farm machinery to prepare, plant and harvest field crops (corn, cotton, barley, wheat, sorghum).
• Perform water harvesting and irrigation tasks.
• Mix and apply herbicides and insecticides using broadacre spray equipment.
• Follow HSE requirements and operate equipment safely.
• Conduct pre‑start and shut‑down procedures and identify maintenance needs.
• Prioritise work to meet planned deadlines and protect company assets.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar farm role.
• Good overall farming knowledge with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously and reliably.
• Commitment to safety and willingness to learn.
• Hold or be able to obtain a Heavy Combination (HC) driver’s licence.
• Australian working rights (no WHV).

Required skills

• Operation of tractors and broadacre sprayers.
• Use of GPS navigation for farm machinery.
• Heavy Combination (HC) driver’s licence.
• Mixing and application of herbicides/insecticides with spray equipment.
• Basic irrigation system operation.
