Experienced Engineer – Roads & Highways

About the role

SMEC is seeking an Experienced Engineer to join its Roads & Highways team in Sydney. You will work on a variety of transport infrastructure projects across New South Wales and Australia, delivering practical and sustainable engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake road and highway design across all project phases.
• Prepare design documentation, engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Develop geometric road designs and support corridor modelling activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve integrated project outcomes.
• Support project delivery to programme, budget and quality objectives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical excellence and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Mentor graduate and developing engineers through knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Motivated roads engineer with a proven ability to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Strong collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering high‑quality transport infrastructure.
• Experience working on road or highway projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
