Experienced Civil Engineer – Rail Projects

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join its Rail Infrastructure team in Newcastle. You will contribute to the design and delivery of complex rail and civil projects across the full project lifecycle, supporting major freight and passenger rail programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Design rail alignment including horizontal and vertical geometry.
• Develop civil designs for earthworks, drainage, access roads and corridor infrastructure.
• Produce concept, detailed and construction documentation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams such as signalling, structural, geotechnical and electrical.
• Conduct Safety in Design reviews and ensure constructible solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified Civil Engineer (BEng or equivalent) with rail infrastructure experience.
• Experience delivering projects in heavy rail, light rail or metro environments.
• Knowledge of Australian rail standards and experience with ARTC, TfNSW or Queensland Rail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• CPEng accreditation or working toward chartership.

Required skills

• Rail alignment, earthworks, drainage and corridor design.
• Proficiency with 12d, Bentley OpenRail Designer, Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation or ProjectWise.
