Executive Director – Performing Arts Network

About the role

The Executive Director will be the leading voice for VAPAC’s network of over 100 performing‑arts venues and creative professionals across Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and the ACT. Reporting to the Executive Committee, you will steer the organisation through its next phase of growth and influence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and set the vision for VAPAC.
• Drive membership growth, retention and engagement.
• Oversee financial stewardship, budgeting and income‑generation activities.
• Lead sector advocacy, partnership development and external relations.
• Support governance processes and work closely with the Executive Committee.
• Ensure communications align with strategic objectives.
• Foster an empowering and collaborative organisational culture.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in arts, cultural or not‑for‑profit organisations.
• Strong understanding of the performing‑arts ecosystem and arts funding/public policy.
• Proven stakeholder relationship and membership management capabilities.
• Financial acumen with strategic and governance expertise.
• Track record in fundraising, sponsorship or revenue generation.
• Experience in advocacy, partnerships and external relations.
• Excellent communication and sector representation skills.
