About the role
This senior executive position leads Queensland's Great Barrier Reef, marine parks, coastal and island operations. Reporting to the Assistant Director‑General, Management and Operations, the role oversees a workforce of over 300 staff and a $50 million budget.
Key responsibilities
- Lead conservation, visitor and operational programs across marine and coastal protected areas.
- Develop and execute strategic and operational plans that align with government priorities.
- Oversee major conservation, infrastructure, pest, fire and disaster‑recovery initiatives.
- Provide expert advice on environmental, operational and legislative matters.
- Build and maintain partnerships with First Nations communities, industry, government and other stakeholders.
- Ensure strong governance, compliance and performance across a geographically dispersed workforce.
Required profile
- Proven executive leadership experience in large‑scale operations or service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex risk, change and multi‑disciplinary programs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with government, community and industry partners.
- Experience delivering results in high‑profile, environmentally focused environments.
