Executive Director – Environmental Advocacy

About the role

The Executive Director will steer the Environment Centre NT’s strategic direction, ensuring the organisation remains a trusted voice for environmental protection across the Northern Territory. Reporting to the Board, you will lead a dynamic team to influence policy, drive campaigns and build lasting community partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement ECNT’s strategic plan, adapting to emerging environmental and political priorities.
• Lead evidence‑based advocacy, campaigning and policy work to influence decision‑makers.
• Act as the principal spokesperson, cultivating relationships with First Nations communities, government, partners, supporters and donors.
• Strengthen organisational capability, foster a collaborative culture and ensure robust governance.
• Secure long‑term financial sustainability through fundraising, grant acquisition and donor engagement.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in the environmental, advocacy, public policy or purpose‑driven sector.
• Strong strategic judgement, political awareness and ability to manage risk in complex stakeholder environments.
• Exceptional communication skills with credibility to influence diverse audiences.
• Commitment to environmental and social impact and ability to align teams around mission‑driven outcomes.
